Testemunho SVE (3ªTemporada): Do outro lado da barricada

Terminei os meus estudos no verão de 2009, quase há 10 anos anos atrás.

Desde então não voltei a entrar numa escola secundária, mas dei por mim muitas vezes a pensar como seria voltar a esse contexto.

Há algumas semanas tive essa oportunidade. Contudo, desta vez estava do outro lado da sala.

Eu e o Alan estivemos na Escola Secundária Poeta Joaquim Serra, no Montijo a apresentar o programa SVE aos alunos do ensino secundário. Devo dizer que depois desta experiência sinto-me muito confiante a trabalhar com este grupo etário.

Percebi que estes jovens eram interessados, estavam  bem informados e muito motivados para aprender. Percebi desde logo que esta turma seria interessante quando á hora de entrada já estavam todos à porta da sala – quando os meus colegas e eu andávamos no secundário chegávamos sempre atrasados...

Durante a nossa apresentação explicámos em que consiste o programa SVE e os seus benefícios, posteriormente dinamizámos um conjunto de actividades nas quais os alunos revelaram grande maturidade.

Acho que foi uma troca excelente, porque mesmo neste papel de “professores” podemos aprender com os jovens sobre os temas que mais lhes interessam.

Foi realmente uma experiência muito estimulante, que me fez reflectir sobre como o trabalho com crianças e jovens nos ajuda a manter um espírito jovem, espero continuar a fazê-lo.

Assim, espero que o meu testemunho de hoje possa ajudar aqueles que estejam interessados em arriscar por caminhos semelhantes.

On the other side of the barricade

I graduated in the summer of 2009, almost ten years ago now.

Since then, I haven't been in high school, but I've often found myself thinking about what it would be like to go back there.

A few weeks ago  I had this opportunity, but sitting on the other side of the room, in the chair.

With Alan we went to a school in Montijo to present the EVS programme to the students.

I have to say that I am now quite confident in addressing the students, without the typical fear of the first time.

I have found young people who are interested, eager to learn and very well informed. (I realized that this is a diligent class when they were all ready in front of the classroom door when we returned from the coffee break .... when my classmates and I went to high school we were always late).

We illustrated, through a power point presentation, what the EVS programme consists of and its benefits, and then carried out activities in which the pupils have shown great maturity.

I think it was an excellent exchange, because even if sometimes you find yourself being "professors", you always come out enriched by a debate with the youngest on issues that interest them most.

It was really a stimulating experience, which made me reflect on how much the work with the boys allows you to remain "young inside" and that, I hope, I can continue to do.

Finally, I hope that my testimony will be of help or advice to those who are interested in taking a path similar to mine.
